Melita Day Nursery - Quality Child Care at Affordable Prices
Welcome
With a large population of non-traditional students, SFCC is pleased to offer on-campus daycare services. In 1996, SFCC received a state grant to renovate the student union into a 7,500-square-foot daycare facility. At that same time, SFCC entered into a partnership with Melita Day Nursery, a United Way agency serving Sedalia since 1910, to provide daycare services to SFCC students and the Sedalia community.
Owned and operated by a volunteer board of directors, Melita Day also serves as a hands-on learning experience for students enrolled in the early childhood development program at SFCC and in the State Fair Career and Technology Center childcare program.
Services
Melita Day provides care for children ages birth to 10 years and is open from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, year round. Drop-in sitting services are not provided. Part- and full-time enrollments are available for SFCC students and employees. Full-time enrollment is available to the Sedalia community. Dedicated staff provide age-appropriate curriculum, with special emphasis on Kindergarten readiness.
Enrollment
An enrollment form must be completed and a copy of the child's current immunization record must be in the Melita office before your child may begin attending the nursery. This form includes emergency instructions in case the parent or designated physician cannot be reached, permission for emergency care, and permission for field trips.
A completed health form must be in the Melita office within thirty (30) days following your child's admission. This form must be signed by a licensed physician or nurse practitioner not more that twelve (12) months prior to admission.
For children under two (2) years of age, a detailed feeding schedule must be completed.
The following forms are required for enrollment: enrollment, immunization, medical report and CACFP.
Fees
For children ages two to nine, Melita Day Nursery bases full-day rates on a sliding scale of fees, dependent upon total family income. The appropriate fee will be determined upon presentation of the last year's tax return. This information will be kept strictly confidential. A non-refundable processing fee of $25 must be paid for the first child and $15 for each addition child for admission to the Nursery.
Fees are as follows (effective 4/1/08):
