INSTITUTIONAL AND PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS
The college has an extensive scholarship program. In fact, more than 250 scholarships are awarded annually. Scholarships do not have to be repaid and usually are awarded on a competitive basis with scholastic achievement, merit, athletic, and financial need as the main determinants. INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The college offers a variety of scholarships which are primarily awarded in the spring for the following academic year. These do not have to be repaid and are usually awarded on a competitive basis with scholastic achievement, merit, athletic, and financial need as the main determinants. SFCC scholarships are open to full-time and part-time students and are awarded for two semesters. The SFCC Merit-based and Need-based scholarship application is available at all SFCC sites, in the Student Services Office at the main campus, at the SFCC web site or can be obtained by mail.
The following is a short description of the different SFCC scholarships. For a more detailed explanation of the scholarships and application procedures please review the SFCC Financial Aid and Scholarship Guide which is available at the SFCC web site, the Financial Aid Office and all SFCC off-campus locations.
SFCC Sponsored Scholarships
SFCC scholarships are divided into six categories, Financial Incentive, Academic Leadership, SFCC Friends, Performance, Marketing and Retention, and Endowed and Patron. Each area has their own set of application requirements and are designed to help meet the needs of our students in different ways.
The scholarships are open to full and part time students, provided all requirements concerning a particular scholarship are met. Scholarships are awarded for 1 year (2 semesters normally fall and spring semesters), unless otherwise specified. The maximum use of SFCC institutional scholarships is 2 years (4 semesters), or the full time equivalent. There are not any limitations on foundation, endowed, patron, or private awards except where noted.
To apply for an Institutional SFCC Scholarship you must complete a scholarship application prior to the March 1st deadline. You need to complete a Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FASFA); the processed/completed FASFA must be received by the financial aid services office not later than Apr 1st. You will need to enroll in SFCC classes by Jul 1st or notify scholarship coordinator of your intent to enroll.
Note 1: In most situations, the SFCC Institutional Scholarship funds that are awarded will be divided in half with half placed on your account for the fall semester and the other half on the spring semester. Institutional scholarships are not normally awarded for the summer semester.
Note 2: A+ students cannot receive a SFCC Financial Incentive Scholarship or Academic Leadership Scholarships.
