Calendar

January 1st

The first day you can complete and send your FAFSA to the U.S. Dept. of Education for the upcoming fall semester.

March 1st

Many scholarships have this as the deadline.

Any financial aid funds for the spring semester in excess of tuition, fees, books or other charges on the student account will be mailed to the student within 14 days of the school receiving the money from the Department of Education.

April 1st

Should have filed your FAFSA and applied for any state financial aid programs (note many scholarships have earlier deadlines)

First week of June

Summer semester starts.  Should have filed your FAFSA and SFCC received your FAFSA.

July 1st

The school should have received your completed FAFSA from the U. S. Department of Education.

If SFCC receives your FAFSA after July 1st there is no guarantee that your application will be totally processed before the start of the fall semester. This may result in you needing to pay the tuition, fees, books, etc. before school starts and then get reimbursed once your FAFSA is processed.  Please keep in mind there is no way of determining the exact amount of financial aid you will receive until the verification process is complete.

Last week of July

Payment for fall semester classes is due.  If your Student Aid Report has not been received by the SFCC Financial Aid Office by this time you would most likely need to pay your tuition, fees, and any other charges by this date.  If and when the SAR is received and all verification documents are received, the financial aid you are eligible for would then be placed on your account. A credit balance check would then be generated during the next regularly scheduled disbursement.

Third week of August

The fall semester usually starts.

Third week of October

Any financial aid funds for the fall semester in excess of tuition, fees, books or other charges on the student account will be mailed to the student within 14 days of the school receiving the money from the Department of Education.

Mid-December

You should receive your renewal FAFSA reminder.  This is a reminder that you need to complete the FAFSA for the next academic year.

Third week of December (approximate date)

Payment for spring semester classes is due.  If your Student Aid Report has not been received by the SFCC Financial Aid Office by this time you would most likely need to pay your tuition, fees, and any other charges by this date.  If and when the SAR is received and all verification documents are received the financial aid you are eligible for would then be placed on your account.  A credit balance check would then be generated during the next regularly scheduled disbursement.
