SFCC's first permanent building, the Charles E. Yeater Learning Center opened in 1976. The building was a result of a $2.5 million dollar gift from the estate of Charles and Elizabeth Yeater in 1972. With the gift, the college was able to buy 115 acres of land and erect a building. The addition was a major turning point in the history of the college; the bricks and mortar of the Yeater Learning Center gave the college permanence, and the image of the institution changed.
Today, the Yeater Learning Center is home to many classrooms, including an interactive television (ITV) classroom, the Testing Center, the Donald C. Proctor Library, the Media Forum, and the Student Achievement Center which offers free tutoring, study skills and GED classes. Offices for extended campus, Tech Prep and the Business & Technology Center are also located here.
