The Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts is the center of arts and entertainment at SFCC. The 40,000-square-foot building was built in 1994 and boasts a state-of-the-art 240-seat theater. Also found in this beautiful building are drama and art wings, the Schrader Music Wing, Goddard Art Gallery, the Backstage Cafe, Behind the Scenes Bookstore, and Parkhurst Student Commons.
The SFCC Theatre Arts program hosts five productions each year, including three full-length plays, a children's play and student directed one-act plays. A variety of professional and student exhibits are shown in the Goddard Gallery, in conjunction with exhibits at the adjoining Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. The music department features several performance groups, including the Soundsation Express show choir, the concert chorale, and the Jazz Runners which perform at least once each semester on campus and at a number of local and area events. Also entering its 11th season is the Stauffacher Artist & Lecturer Series which features quality performances that entertain and educate both the community and our students. For event information, call the SFCC Box Office at (660)530-5814.
The Stauffacher Center was made possible by a generous $3 million bequest from the estate of Dr. and Mrs. C. Gordon Stauffacher.
