Humanities & Social Sciences
If you're interested in understanding and working with people, or if you're interested in studying how our history and culture influence human behavior, then a degree in humanities or social sciences is for you. SFCC's two-year Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degrees prepare students to trasfer to four year colleges and universities. There you can specialize in majors such as economics, education, history, political science, psychology, religious studies or sociology/social work.
There are many rewarding careers one can attain with a degree in education, philosophy or social sciences. You may be interested in becoming a teacher in elementary or secondary education. You may want to become a lawyer or work in the legal field. You may want to become a psychologist or social worker and work in human services. You may want to study group behavior or social institutions and work as a sociologist. You may want to conduct research in a number of different areas. Or, perhaps you want to work for a governmental or non-profit agency. The opportunities are limitless, and you can make a significant difference in people's lives or in institutional policy making.
