CIS Programming

Why study CIS in Programming?

The computer programming field is once again experiencing growth in the demands for qualified computer programmers. SFCC continues to provide vast rewards for those interested in the creation and design of computer programs to be used in the business and professional world.

Associate of Applied Science in CIS with Emphasis in Programming

The AAS in Computer Information Systems with Emphasis in Programming prepares students to enter an exciting field of computer programming. Local, national and international companies including banks, insurance companies, state agencies, and major programming firms have hired State Fair Community College graduates. Students receive hands-on experience in programming. COBOL, DB2, Visual Basic, C#, and JAVA are taught in addition to courses in programming concepts, software and hardware applications, and computer operations. An internship provides an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in a work environment.

Skills Certificate in Programming

The Skills Certificate in Programming is designed to allow students to achieve this qualification in a single 18-credit hour semester at SFCC-Boonville. It's possible to earn the certificate at Sedalia in two semesters. The courses for this certificate prepare students for entry-level programming jobs using the languages of Visual Basic, C#, Java, and an understanding of database relationships and SQL coding.
