Ways to Give Now
In order to meet the needs of our students and the community we serve, the SFCC Foundation encourages charitable giving by individuals, corporations, foundations, and service organizations. Ways to give now include but are not limited to the following:
Annual Fund
The SFCC Annual Fund provides support where the need is the greatest. This fund gives the college the ability to respond quickly when needs or opportunities arise. Annual gifts are an important source of support for SFCC educational programs, scholarships, equipment and faculty and staff development.
Giving levels have been established to acknowledge loyal SFCC supporters and donors are recognized in the annual State Fair Community College Review magazine. Annual Fund giving levels are as follows:
| 21st Century Club |
$1000 and above |
| Gold Century Club |
$500-$999 |
| Silver Century Club |
$250-$499 |
| Bronze Century Club |
$100-$249 |
| SFCC Builders Club |
Up to $99 |
Endowments
One of the best ways SFCC can continue providing quality educational programs and services is through endowed gifts made possible by farsighted individuals from the private sector.
An endowment establishes a permanent fund with the donor’s gift, and the fund may be named in the donor’s honor. The gift is invested by the Foundation, and the income from the gift is used annually in perpetuity to support college programs and services.
You may establish an endowment by making a current gift of $10,000 or more or by making a planned gift to the SFCC Foundation. Donors may establish unrestricted or restricted endowments.
Memorials
One of the best tributes to a friend or loved one is a memorial gift to SFCC. All memorial contributions go directly to support student needs.
If an obituary directs contributions to the charity of your choice, you can:
• Write a check for any amount payable to the SFCC Foundation. • Let us know whom you wish to memorialize.
When we receive the check, we will:
• Send you a thank you letter with tax deduction information. • Notify the family that a gift was made by you in memory of the deceased.
Gifts are listed in the Honor Roll of Donors in the annual State Fair Community College Review magazine.
Gifts of Securities
While current gifts are often made with cash, they may also be made with outright gifts of long-term appreciated stock or other securities. You may take an immediate tax deduction and you avoid capital gains tax.
Gifts of Real Estate
You may donate property to SFCC. Again you receive and immediate tax deduction and reduce or eliminate capital gains tax.
