Business Management
Why study business management?
The combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training offered through SFCC's business management program provides the ideal framework to help you develop the skills you need for a career in management, marketing, advertising, merchandising, personnel, or supervision.
SFCC's two-year associate of applied science degree program offers a rigorous class schedule as well as a two-month summer internship that allows students to apply business principles in a real world setting. The required internship, during which you apply the skills developed in the classroom is an essential part of the business management program.
The degree offers three specialties within the program. You may pursue a specialty in management, marketing/retail or office management. In all degrees you will learn goal-setting, coordinating, decision-making, motivation, leadership, ethics, and communication skills. If you enjoy serving as a leader, making decisions, analyzing information and implementing solutions the management specialty is for you. If you are creative, possess good communication and human relation skills, enjoy problem solving, and are team oriented the marketing/retail specialty may be more to your liking. If you are organized, like to solve problems and are detail-oriented, then you may want to consider the office management specialty. It is possible for students to obtain more than specialty without a great deal of extra work. If you are interested in this option talk to your advisor.
