Why study accounting?
Accounting is the language of business. Wherever your career path leads, a good foundation in accounting helps you compete in the dynamic world of business. The accounting courses offered in the Business Department at State Fair Community College provide in-depth coverage of the conceptual framework of accounting, plus hands-on opportunities to apply what you have learned before you enter the work world.
The associate of applied science degree in accounting offers expertise in the following areas: financial and managerial accounting, computerized accounting systems, cost accounting, tax accounting, payroll accounting, and spreadsheet/database applications.
The practical accounting skills you receive at SFCC will prepare you for a wide variety of excellent employment opportunities: financial accountant/bookkeeper, income tax preparer, budgetary or cost/management accountant, or payroll specialist.

Transferable credit
Many accounting courses at SFCC are transferable to four-year institutions. With this type of flexibility, you can receive an affordable Associate of Arts degree at SFCC with immediately marketable skills, and still have the option of pursuing a plan to transfer to a four-year institution, just let your SFCC advisor know prior to enrollment.
