Following a Quality Checkup visit, the next step in maintaining accreditation through the AQIP pathway is "Reaffirmation of Accreditation." In AQIP, the formal procedure culminating in Reaffirmation of Accreditation occurs every seven years. In the Reaffirmation procedure, an AQIP Review Panel on Reaffirmation reviews each institution's cumulative record of activity and judges whether it has documented that it meets The Higher Learning Commission's five Criteria for Accreditation. The Panel also recommends whether the institution should be permitted to continue participating in AQIP.
During the summer of 2012, a panel of peer reviewers from the Higher Learning Commission reviewed SFCC's cumulative record of activity in condiseration of SFCC's Reaffirmation of Accreditation. The panel's recommendation may be accessed in the important dates section above. The panel's recommendation was approved by the Higher Learning Commission's Institutional Actions Council at its August 20, 2012 meeting, which voted to "continue the accreditation of State Fair Community College with the next reaffirmation of accreditation in 2018-19."
