State Fair Community College

2012-2014 degree and program requirements

Advising worksheets--

Advising worksheets help students plan and accomplish their educational goals.  Each worksheet is intended as a guide and is not intended to replace the advisor. Click on a link to access a PDF of a degree or program that will open in a new window. Please note that these worksheets are subject to change.

Associate of Arts (AA) degrees are designed for the student who wishes to transfer and earn a Baccalaureate degree. It is important to contact the college to which the student wishes to transfer for advice on how each credit will transfer. Click transfer information for a list of four-year colleges with which SFCC has established agreements. The worksheets below contain a list of required general education courses and suggested electives.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees are designed for students who wish to enter the career field after completing the program. In some programs, specific agreements have been made with other colleges and universities that allow A.A.S. degrees to transfer toward a baccalaureate degree. Students should speak with an advisor about how each course will transfer. The worksheets list the required courses for each degree.

The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree was created by Missouri four-year colleges and community colleges and provides students who have earned an AAT degree at SFCC the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in education at a Missouri four-year college or university. Earning an AAT at SFCC makes the transition to four-year universities a smooth process and is very economical.

An Associate of Science in Chemistry (ASC) or Engineering (ASE) is now offered at SFCC. These are the only AS degree programs offered within the college's 14-county service area. These programs provide students with the first two years of study toward bachelor's degrees in either chemistry or engineering.

One-year Professional Certificates are designed to get students into the work force quickly. Most certificates can be applied toward an A.A.S. degree if the student decides to continue after completion of a certificate program.

Some of the programs now include Skills Certificates for students interested in attaining a set of specialized skills that could lead to quick employment. The number of credit hours required can range from 15 to 18 because courses are limited to a specific set of skills.

If you do not see a program of interest listed below, please contact the ARC at (660) 530-5831 for assistance.

Students who have been continuously enrolled and whose first semester was prior to fall 2010 should use the 2008-2010 worksheets. For students who enrolled in fall of 2010, use the 2010-2012 worksheets
