5P5 Levels of communication
How does communication occur between and among institutional levels?
Results from CQSs indicate that communication between and among institutional levels needs to improve. This has been an ongoing problem as the college continues to grow and expand programs and services, and as long-term employees move into retirement. Consequently, this issue remains a focus for the administration. Inter- and intra-departmental meetings are encouraged, if not mandated; process and improvement teams and committees must have cross-representation from all appropriate units/departments; and all institutional units are now represented on the ELT through a director, dean or vice president. ELT members are required to share information and ELT meeting notes are shared via the President’s Pen on mySTAR. The president also schedules monthly meetings with employee association presidents to communicate plans, goals and issues facing the college.
