The Roadrunners extended their winning streak to eight games Feb. 8 when they defeated the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers 71-63 in Overland Park, Kan.
SFCC (18-6) opened the game with an 11-2 run and never trailed.
“We got off to a quick start,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “We made some shots and our guys shared the ball to start the game. We finished the game with 18 assists as a team, which is great.”
Sophomore guard Kevin Punter led three Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 21 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Marcus Mondaine contributed 18 points. Freshman guard Dondre Alexander added 11 points. Freshman wing Kedar Edwards and Alexander tied for the team lead in steals with three. Sophomore guard Joseph Thomasson dished out a team-high seven assists.
“Marcus came off the bench and had a nice game,” said Thomas. “He had 18 points and seven rebounds. Ben Denbow gave us some good minutes; he made a couple three-point shots and got a couple tough rebounds. Dondre made three three-point shots for us.”
