Lady Roadrunners Defeat Jefferson
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
The Lady Roadrunners got back on the winning track Jan. 18 when they defeated the Jefferson College Lady Vikings from Hillsboro 82-52 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

SFCC (10-7, 2-1 in Region 16) jumped out to a 43-23 lead at halftime.

Sophomore guard/forward Apiphany Woods led three Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 21 points. She also contributed eight rebounds, three assists and a team-high four steals. Freshman center Alecia Cooley pitched in with 16 points, including a perfect six out of six from the free-throw line. Sophomore forward Sydonia Daniels added 14 points, pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and registered a team-high two blocked shots.

“Jefferson is down in numbers,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We knew we could use a lot of different players. It was good to see our post players get some opportunities inside.”

The Lady Roadrunners will close out their home stand with another Region 16 contest against the Crowder College Lady Riders from Neosho at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
