The Lady Roadrunners opened the second semester with a 112-52 victory over the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Lady Scouts Jan. 4 in a game played on the campus of Rockhurst University in Kansas City.
“We had a really good practice the day before the game,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “You could tell our players worked hard on their own over break. We did as much as we could in the four practices we had before the game. It was nice to see them come out and play well.”
SFCC (7-6) jumped out to an early 17-9 advantage with just under 16 minutes remaining in the first half and never looked back. The Lady Roadrunners used a stifling full-court pressure defense to extend the lead to 56-33 at halftime and cruised to victory.
“It was key for us to finally have our depth,” said Bucher. “Everybody on the team really wanted to play in the game. I did not give them a lot of time out on the floor because I knew we still weren’t in the best shape. I just rotated players in and out often, and we didn’t miss a beat. It’s nice to have 12 players out there playing, and to imagine what the possibilities could be this semester.”
Every Lady Roadrunner on the roster played and scored in the contest.
