The State Fair Community College Roadrunners put the finishing touches on this year’s McDonald’s Classic defeating the College of Faith Warriors from West Memphis, Ark., 113-82 on Nov. 2.
The Roadrunners took a 62-42 lead into halftime. Every Roadrunner that played in the game scored en route to the victory.
“We’ll take a win,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “We have a long way to go defensively. We had a lot of guys do some good things. DeAngelo Stephens-Bell took three charges tonight. He gave us a good lift off the bench. We had six guys score in double figures tonight. We have four days to prepare for Kankakee. We’re going to have to play better defensively if we are going to beat them at Lake Land on Friday.”
Sophomore guard Kevin Punter led the team in scoring with 19 points. Sophomore guard DeRon Hill contributed 17 points. Hill dished out a team high seven assists in the contest and registered a team leading four steals. Freshman guard Dondre Alexander added 16 points in the game. He also pulled down a team high nine rebounds in the contest. Stephens-Bell and freshman wing Jerrard Davis pitched in with 15 points each. Freshman center Jean-Louis Wanya scored 13 points and blocked a team high five shots in the game.
