The 2013 SFCC Roadrunner Booster Club golf tournament raised nearly $6,900 for the college’s men’s and women’s basketball programs.
A total of 22 teams participated in the second annual three-person scramble Sept. 21 at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall. Dairy Queen Grill & Chill sponsored the event.
“The golf tournament helps us make different contacts within the community,” said SFCC Athletic Director Darren Pannier. “It is a win-win situation. The community gets involved and supports the golf tournament, and the coaches, SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson and I get to visit with the patrons and community members who came out to watch our teams play.”
Teams were divided into three flights. Mike Trammell, Jeff Hanes and Dwayne Davis won first place in the first flight. Mark Kelchner, Steve Sobaski and Joe Gilgour won flight number two. First place in flight number three went to the team of Gary Noland, Ron Collier and Billy Collier.
Dan Page won the “closest to the pin” contest; Tim Murdock won the “longest drive” contest and Ron Bean won the “longest putt” competition.
Hotel Bothwell and Furnell Investments Inc. sponsored the putting green and Great Western Dining sponsored the beverage cart.
