State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher has announced the addition of Kathleen Yoakum, who recently signed her National Letter of Intent and will begin her career as a Lady Roadrunner this fall. Yoakum is a native of Cleveland, Mo.
The Cass Midway High School product played her high school basketball for Head Coach Chad Dean. Yoakum was a four-time All-Conference selection earning First-Team All-Conference honors in her final three seasons of high school basketball. She also earned All-District honors all four years of her prep basketball career.
During her senior campaign, Yoakum averaged 16 points per game while pulling down 6.6 rebounds. She also contributed 3.8 steals per contest. She wrapped up her outstanding four year career at Cass Midway with 1,293 points and 622 rebounds.
“She is very fast and athletic,” said Bucher. “She fits into our system well. She was one of the top players in her area and we are glad to have her.”
Yoakum also was a standout track and field athlete at Cass Midway. She won a State Championship in the 800 meter as a sophomore. She chose not to go out for the team as a junior, but returned as a senior to win a pair of individual State Championships in the 400 meter and the 800 meter. Yoakum was also a part of State Championship teams in the 4 x 400 meter relay and the 4 x 200 meter relay.
Yoakum also excels in the classroom. She was on the honor roll in high school and a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to major in either Business or Exercise Science at SFCC.
