The Lady Roadrunners (20-9, 4-6) lost their final regular season game Feb. 23 to the Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals by a score of 86-72 in Park Hills.
The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 17-3 lead early in the contest. SFCC trimmed Mineral Area’s advantage to 44-34 at halftime. Mineral Area outscored the Lady Roadrunners 42-38 in the second half to secure the victory.
Freshman guard Antoinette Taylor led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 27 points. Freshman guard Adella Randle-EL contributed 10 points. Freshman guard/forward Julia Torres and freshman guard Apiphany Woods pulled down a team-high eight rebounds apiece. Randle-EL dished out a team-high six assists. Taylor registered a team-high three steals.
The Lady Roadrunners will be the number five seed in the Region XVI tournament Feb. 26 when they once again travel to Park Hills to play the Lady Cardinals in the opening round. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
