The Lady Roadrunners led for 38 of 40 minutes Feb. 16 in a hard-fought contest with the Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. SFCC (19-8, 3-5 in Region XVI) led by a score of 32-29 at halftime, after leading by as many as 10 points in the half.
Moberly refused to go away, outscoring SFCC 33-27 in the second half. The Lady Greyhounds took the lead in the waning minutes to secure the 62-59 victory.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game tonight,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “Moberly plays tough. We barely pulled out a win at their place earlier in the season. We missed some shots and put them on the free-throw line at the very end. We had our chances.”
Freshman guard Adella Randle-EL and freshman guard Sannayiah Johnson tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points apiece. Freshman guard Antoinette Taylor added 10 points. Johnson also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Randle-EL registered a team-high six steals. Taylor dished out a team-high two assists.
SFCC will host the Jefferson College Lady Vikings Feb. 20 in the Lady Roadrunners’ final regular-season home game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
