The Lady Roadrunners found themselves down five points with four minutes to go Jan. 16 in Moberly. SFCC (14-4, 1-1 in Region XVI) fought its way back to claim a 74-68 victory over the Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds.
“We’ve been in that situation before against good teams,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “Antoinette (Taylor) got a big steal and hit a shot to get us going. Adella (Randle-EL) hit a big three-point shot. We hit big shots when we needed them. They really stepped up to the challenge. I was happy for our players.”
Taylor led three Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 24 points, pulled down a team-high six rebounds and registered a team-high five steals. Randle-EL contributed 16 points and dished out a team-high three assists. Mia Wesley added 13 points.
“Antoinette probably had her best overall game,” said Bucher. “Sannayiah (Johnson) hit some big three-point shots at the beginning of the game. Adella handled the basketball well and hit some good shots down the stretch. Our post players also played well. It was a group effort.”
SFCC will play the Jefferson College Lady Vikings Jan. 19 in Hillsboro. The game also is part of the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
