The Lady Roadrunners (11-3) emerged with a hard-fought 60-54 victory over the Illinois Central College Cougars Dec. 8 in East Peoria, Ill.
“We didn’t play very well,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We couldn’t get any offense going. We were very fortunate to win the game. We played a little better in the second half, but it was a close game all the way.”
Freshman guard Antoinette Taylor led SFCC in scoring with 14 points and also registered a team-high four steals in the game. Freshman forward Asia Mosley contributed 10 points, five rebounds and three steals. Sophomore guard Mia Wesley also contributed 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
“Our post players played well for us,” said Bucher. “It was nice to see the contributions from them; they definitely helped us with their defense and rebounding.”
The Lady Roadrunners will return to action Jan. 4 against the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Scouts. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
