The Roadrunners (6-2) defeated the Southeastern Illinois College Falcons 64-51 Nov. 20 in Harrisburg, Ill.
SFCC jumped out to an early 25-7 lead and took a 28-18 lead into halftime.
“We came out with a lot of energy,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “We were really clicking offensively and were able to get a lot of stops defensively. We moved the ball and made the extra pass. Ayo Ojo had a really good night. He was really physical inside and gave us some offensive punch.”
Southeastern Illinois made a run in the second half to cut the deficit to single digits, but SFCC made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.
Ojo recorded a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, leading his team in both categories. Sophomore guard Kenny Chery tied for the team lead in assists with three and recorded a team-high three steals. Freshman guard Kevin Punter also registered three assists, along with freshman guard Deron Hill and freshman guard Joe Thomasson. Freshman wing Dashawn Stitt led the team in blocked shots with two.
