The Lady Roadrunners (3-2) dropped a 76-67 decision to the North Arkansas Lady Pioneers Nov. 13 in Harrison, Ark.
North Arkansas took a 33-29 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Lady Pioneers outscored SFCC 43-38 in the second half to secure the victory.
“We missed a lot of shots,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “Our defense didn’t play as well as it has in the past several games. North Arkansas hit some good shots. We’re going to have to fight through a lot of youth and inexperience in order to get some wins.”
Freshman guard Apiphany Woods led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 16 points. Freshman guard Antoinette Taylor contributed 13 points. Freshman guard/forward Julia Torres added 10 points in the game. Torres and sophomore guard Mia Wesley tied for the team lead in rebounds with six each. Taylor registered a team-high five steals.
The Lady Roadrunners will return home Sept. 16 to host the Stone Laser Imaging Classic. SFCC will take on Kirkwood Community College at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Wabash Valley College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
“These will be the toughest teams we’ve played to date,” said Bucher. “We have a lot to work on in the next couple of days to be ready to go on Friday.”
