The Roadrunners traveled to Olney, Ill., Nov. 9-10to participate in the Olney Central Classic. SFCC (2-2) dropped a 97-77 decision to the sixth-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers from Vincennes, Ind., on Friday night.
SFCC opened the game on a 5-0 run. The Trailblazers came roaring back to take a 44-36 lead into halftime. Vincennes pushed the advantage to 26 points at 93-67 in the second half; the 26-point advantage was the biggest for either team in the game.
The Roadrunners had three players in double-figure scoring. Freshman guard Joe Thomasson
led the team in scoring with 20 points. Sophomore wing Jacob Williams contributed 16 points and freshman guard Kevin Punter added 13 points. Williams pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and Thomasson dished out a team-leading five assists in the contest. Punter registered a team-high three steals.
On Saturday SFCC took on the host Olney Central College Blue Knights. SFCC took a 30-24 lead into halftime. Olney Central outscored SFCC 37-14 in the second half to claim a 61-44 victory. Punter led SFCC in scoring with 14 points. Williams pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Thomasson and freshman guard Deron Hill each recorded two assists. Thomasson led the team in steals with two and Hill registered a team-high three blocked shots in the game.
