Lady Roadrunners Fall at Independence Community College
Tuesday, November 13, 2012
The Lady Roadrunners (3-1) fell to the 19th-ranked Independence Community College Lady Pirates by a score of 60-47 Nov. 10 in Independence, Kan.

The Lady Roadrunners trailed 23-18 at halftime. SFCC was outscored 37-29 in the second half. The Lady Roadrunners shot 13 of 33 from the free-throw line in the contest.

“We missed so many opportunities offensively,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “Overall, our defense was pretty good. We held Independence to 60 points, which is not a bad performance on the defensive end of the court. Our players worked hard enough defensively to win the game. We were in the game all the way to the end. We gave ourselves chances to win, but you still have to put the ball in the basket.”

Sophomore guard Mia Wesley led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 10 points. Freshman forward Asia Mosley contributed nine points and 10 rebounds in the contest. Freshman guard Antoinette Taylor added nine points. Sophomore forward/center Kaitlyn Mercer pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.
