A Sept. 22 SFCC Roadrunner Booster Club golf tournament raised more than $6,000 for the men’s and women’s basketball programs at State Fair Community College.
A total of 19 teams participated in the fundraiser at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall. Peak Performance sponsored the event.
“SFCC is very grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s golf tournament,” said President Dr. Marsha Drennon. “We are especially appreciative of the sponsors and volunteers who made this year’s event such a tremendous success."
Other sponsors included Katy Trail Community Health, driving range sponsor; Great Western Dining, beverage cart sponsor; and Furnell Investments Inc., putting green sponsor.
“I want to thank all the golfers for coming out,” said Lady Roadrunners Assistant Coach Buck Scheel. “Without the help from all of our sponsors and participants this event would not have been possible.”
Dr. Brent Bates, vice president of Education and Student Support Services, said the tournament was an important event for the college’s athletics program.
“We are pleased to see so many people from the community supporting State Fair Community College athletics,” said Bates. “The event is a positive sign for our program and college.”
