Lady Roadrunners Initiate Community Service Project
Tuesday, September 18, 2012
The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners will be spending time throughout the year with the residents at Winchester Meadows in Sedalia. The student-athletes made their first visit on Monday, Sept. 10 when they played bingo with the residents.
“It was a great time for our ladies to visit with the residents,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We were also able to serve snacks and drinks to the residents, but sometimes it is just as important to just listen to their stories and find out where they are from. It was a great night overall.”
The Lady Roadrunners will participate in various activities on the second Monday of every month at Winchester Meadows. Bucher feels that it is very important for the student-athletes to be involved in the community.
“It is an opportunity for us to give back to the community, they give so much to our student-athletes,” said Bucher. “I know our student-athletes enjoyed it and I enjoyed it as well.”
