SFCC’s Ariel Easton receives prestigious honor
Former SFCC guard Ariel Easton will have her jersey hanging in the Women’s Basketball Hall Of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn., for the next year as part of the Ring of Honor display.
The display will contain the jerseys of both high school and college All-Americans. The 2012 SFCC graduate earned the honor because of her Second Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American selection after her single season as a Lady Roadrunner.
“All the players on the All-American list had the opportunity to showcase what programs they came from,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “The Hall of Fame asks for a uniform from that institution. We wanted to recognize Ariel as a great player, and we also thought it would be a great opportunity to get SFCC’s name out there.”
Easton, a native of South Bend, Ind., helped lead the Lady Roadrunners to an 18-12 record last season. She also led the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game and averaged a team-high two steals per contest.
Easton plans to continue her academic and athletic career this fall at Stony Brook University in New York.
