Wilson signs with St. Mary’s University
Sophomore Fred Wilson has signed a national letter of intent to attend St. Mary’s University, a Division II school in San Antonio. The Rattlers play in the Heartland Conference.
During his sophomore campaign, Wilson helped lead SFCC to a 15-15 record, including a road victory over nationally ranked Hutchinson Community College and a trip to the Region XVI tournament semifinal.
Wilson averaged 9.5 points a game in his single season as a Roadrunner, fourth highest on the team in scoring. He also dished out 2.8 assists, third high for the team, and 1.1 steals per contest. The Seattle native knocked down 72 percent of his free-throw attempts last season.
Wilson plans to major in business management at St. Mary’s.
“I think it’s a good fit for him,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “St. Mary’s has a really good program. I’m familiar with their coaching staff and they do a good job. St. Mary’s is one of the top teams in its league. Their style of play should be a perfect fit for Fred. He’ll be able to step in and give them some solid play.”
