Lady Roadrunners sign transfer student for 2012-2013

The Lady Roadrunners announce the addition of Kaitlyn Mercer who will join the program next season.

Kaitlyn Mercer

6-2 Forward/Center

Stanbury, Mo.

Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph

Mercer played in six games last season for Head Coach Lynn Plett at Missouri Western.

Mercer had a stellar prep career at Stanbury High School. She averaged 15.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.7 blocks during her senior campaign and was named the MVP of her team. She earned first-team all-conference honors and all-district honors. She was named to second team all state, as well as the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association all-state team. She was named a KAAN All-Star.

“I think Kaitlyn will be a great fit for the program,” said Assistant Coach Buck Scheel. “She already has one year of college experience under her belt, both in the classroom and on the floor. She has been part of a Division II program and knows what it takes to get through a long season.”

“SFCC has a good program,” said Mercer, who is undecided on a major. “The coaches are really nice. This is an opportunity for me to play more and get more experience.”
