Roadrunners Drop Two Games in Texas
The Roadrunners traveled to Levelland, Texas, Nov. 18-19 to play in the South Plains College Classic. SFCC (2-6) dropped an 86-75 decision to host and seventh-ranked South Plains College Texans on Friday night.
“South Plains got off to a really good start against us,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “We were flat offensively and lacked energy on the defensive end; at one point we were down 18-4. We got the South Plains lead down to 11 at halftime but we never got any closer than that.”
Freshman guard Kenny Chery led three Roadrunners in double figures with 19 points. Sophomore wing Antonin Galaya contributed 15 points. Sophomore guard Fred Wilson added 13 points. Chery led his team with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Wilson registered a team-high three steals.
SFCC took on the Odessa College Wranglers from Odessa, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. The Roadrunners fell 77-72.
“We got off to a rocky start again,” said Thomas. “We were down probably 15-6 to start the game. Our guys battled back and tied the game at halftime. We could never get that key stop when we needed it in the second half. They killed us on the glass. They got 17 offensive rebounds and we only had four.”
Sophomore guard Alfonzo Houston led SFCC in scoring with 26 points. Sophomore forward Michael Bradley contributed 14 points and a team-high five rebounds. Chery dished out a team-high six assists in the contest.
