Lady Roadrunners Defeat Missouri Valley
The Lady Roadrunners defeated the Missouri Valley College Lady Vikings from Marshall 68-49 in the annual Highway 65 Shootout Oct. 26 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
SFCC jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, and then used its defensive pressure to take control of the game in the second half.
“Missouri Valley hit the wall about the midway through the second half,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We’re able to use our depth to wear teams down and get some easy baskets quick.”
Sophomore guard Ariel Easton led three Lady Roadrunners in double figures with 15 points. Freshman guard Brittany Silas contributed 12 points. Freshman guard/forward Cassandra Moore added 10 points. Sophomore forward/center Cheyenne Williams pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and tied with freshman guard Voneisha Harris for the team lead in steals with three.
SFCC opens its regular season at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in the McDonald’s Classic against Vincennes University at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
