SFCC’s Toric makes college choice
SFCC sophomore Filip Toric will continue his academic and athletic career next fall at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a Division II school in Weatherford, Okla.
“The coaches are extremely nice people,” said Toric. “I met a few of the guys on my visit and they were really friendly. I felt like they really wanted me there.”
Toric helped the Roadrunners to back-to-back 20-win seasons during his career at SFCC. He averaged five points and four rebounds during his freshman campaign. He played in all 31 games for SFCC, starting in 11.
“I think he has a bright future ahead of him,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “He is a very talented guy and a lot better athlete than a lot of people give him credit for. He can shoot; he can put it on the floor. He rebounds the ball well. I think he can be a really good player for Southwestern Oklahoma."
Toric averaged 5.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest as a sophomore. He helped lead SFCC to the Region XVI tournament championship game.
“He’s been great,” said Thomas. “He has been an ambassador for our program and a great representative of State Fair Community College. We appreciate everything he has done to help continue a tradition here at SFCC."
