Lady Roadrunners Remain Perfect in Region
The fifth-ranked Lady Roadrunners used an 8-0 run in the second half to defeat the Crowder College Lady Riders 92-59 Jan. 26 at home.
SFCC (18-2, 4-0 in Region XVI) led 28-15 with just nine minutes to go in the first half. The Lady Roadrunners extended the lead to 20, courtesy of a lay-up by sophomore forward Ebony Davis with just over four minutes remaining in the half. SFCC led 50-30 at halftime.
“I thought our guard pressure worked well,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We forced several turnovers. I thought Dahlia Booker had a good game.”
The Lady Riders went on a 12-6 run to trim the advantage to 56-42 with 13 minutes and 5 seconds remaining in the contest. SFCC continued to stretch the lead, taking a 30-point lead at 78-48 with a little more than six minutes remaining in the game. All but two Lady Roadrunners scored in the game.
“We got an opportunity to play everybody and work on some skills,” said Bucher. “It was a good night.”
Booker registered a double double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, leading SFCC in both categories; she also led the team in steals with four. Davis also registered a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Ciara Leak also contributed 14 points and tied for the team lead with three assists. Sophomore Hattie Harris added 12 points and sophomore Arriana Walker dished out three assists for the game.
