Lady Roadrunners Dominate Penn Valley

The 12th-ranked State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners picked up right where they left off at the end of the first semester when they defeated Penn Valley Community College 94-59 Jan.5 in Kansas City.

The Lady Roadrunners opened the game on a 17-7 run. They stretched the advantage to 34-12 with just under seven minutes to go until halftime.

“We started really pushing the ball and getting out and running,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “The lead jumped from six, to eight, to 10, and then all of the sudden the lead just exploded.” SFCC (14-2) led 53-18 at halftime.

Every Lady Roadrunner who dressed for the game scored. Sophomore guard Ciara Leak led four Lady Roadrunners in double-figures with 24 points. Sophomore guard Maci Wisdom contributed 18 points. Sophomores Hattie Harris and Dahlia Booker added 12 points each. Sophomore forward Ebony Davis led the team with eight rebounds, five blocks and four steals. Sophomore guard Arriana Walker dished out a team-leading three assists.

The Lady Roadrunners turn their attention to their Region XVI opener Jan. 16 when they host Three Rivers Community College at 5:30 p.m.
