Roadrunners Sweep SFCC Classic
The State Fair Community College Roadrunners (6-0) used a great shooting performance to defeat Allen County Community College 92-65 Saturday night, Nov. 20, closing out the SFCC Classic.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 17-11 lead with 15 minutes and 5 seconds remaining in the opening half. They stretched the lead to 37-16, then took a 46-27 lead into halftime by virtue of a red-hot shooting performance from beyond the arc. SFCC shot 10-22 in the half, a blistering 45 percent.
“We had a lot of different guys step up and make shots for us,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “I thought they really shared the ball; we had a lot of guys passing up shots to let another guy have a better shot.”
Sophomore Matt Webb went to work inside in the second half. Webb led the Roadrunners with 25 points in the game. He also contributed eight rebounds.
“In the second half we did great job of getting the ball inside to Matt and he went to work,” said Thomas. “(He) scored a lot of points for us and rebounded the ball well.”
