Lady Roadrunners Go 0-2
in Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic in Florida
The seventh-ranked State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners lost both games Nov. 12-13 in the 2010 Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic in Marianna, Fla.
In Friday night’s opening round, SFCC lost 72-52 to the Northwest Florida State Community College Lady Raiders. Northwest Florida jumped out to a 17-11 lead to open the game. The Lady Roadrunners (3-1) cut the lead to one at the six-minute mark, even taking a one-point lead. Northwest Florida used its combination of size and speed to retake the lead, stretching the margin to 38-25 at halftime.
The Lady Raiders took control of the game in the second half and picked up the victory. SFCC was out rebounded 52-38 for the game.
“Northwest Florida State is a very good team,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “They have size and speed, they are very athletic, and could shoot the ball from deep. I thought we had a good game plan, but they were bigger at every position.”
Sophomore Ciara Leak led the Roadrunners offensively with 16 points and three steals. Sophomore Tatianna Washington contributed nine points. Sophomore Ebony Davis added eight points and a team-leading eight rebounds for the Lady Roadrunners. Sophomore Hattie Harris pulled down five rebounds.
