Lady Roadrunners Defeat Missouri Valley

The seventh-ranked State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners finished off their preseason schedule Oct. 27 with a 70-52 victory over Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. The game was part of the annual Highway 65 Shootout.
"I thought we came out pretty good," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “Our defensive pressure really kick-started us. At one point, we had a 24-point lead, but Missouri Valley got the lead down to 10 points. We still have a lot of work to do."
SFCC had a 37-22 lead at halftime. The Lady Roadrunners stretched the lead in the second half, outscoring Missouri Valley 33-30 to secure the victory.
Sophomore Ciara Leak led the Lady Roadrunners with 18 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Ebony Davis contributed 12 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Arriana Walker dished out a team-leading three assists.
The Lady Roadrunners will open their season on Nov. 1 against Rend Lake College at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
