Watts Signs Professional Contract
Former Roadrunner standout Sanijay Watts has signed with the SOBA Dragons Rhoendorf of the German Pro A League.
Watts transferred to SFCC as a sophomore and led the Roadrunners to the semifinal round of the Region 16 tournament in 2008. He averaged 22 points and eight rebounds for the year, shooting an outstanding 51 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line.
Watts was named to the 2007-2008 All-Region team and received honorable mention as an All-American. He transferred to the University of Central Missouri where he earned All-American honors both years, including first-team honors as a senior, when he averaged 21.7 points and 9.5 rebounds.
He helped lead the UCM Mules to 57 wins during his career, along with a Final Four appearance and regional, conference and conference tournament titles.
“You can't measure certain intangibles, one of which is heart,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “Sanijay has one of the biggest hearts you’ll ever see and he played hard all the time. I think that's what helped him become the player he's become."
