Cold Shooting Dooms Lady Roadrunners
The Lady Roadrunners fell 66-38 to North Idaho College March 17 in the second round of the NJCAA national tournament at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kan.
North Idaho opened the game with a 15-4 run and never looked back. A three-point field goal from sophomore guard Arriana Walker trimmed the deficit to 15-13 with six minutes remaining in the first half. That was as close as the Lady Roadrunners came in the game.
SFCC (29-5) shot 23.8 percent from the field. The Lady Roadrunners were out-rebounded 61 to 34 for the game. SFCC trailed 26-19 at halftime. North Idaho kept the pressure on in the second half, outscoring the Lady Roadrunners 40-19.
“When you don’t shoot the ball well, and get out-rebounded 61-34, that’s a bad combination,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher.
Four Lady Roadrunners tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points each. Sophomore forward Ebony Davis led the team with seven points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard/forward Dahlia Booker, Walker and freshman guard/forward Jallisa Lewis all registered seven points each. Booker and Walker tied for the team lead in assists with two each. Lewis led the team with three steals in the game.
