Recap:

Lady Roadrunners Sweep SFCC Classic

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners closed out their portion of the SFCC Classic Saturday night, Nov. 20, with an 87-26 win over Neosho County Community College.

Sophomore Ciara Leak opened the game by burying a three-point shot. Sophomore Tatianna Washington followed with back-to-back steals and scores to put the 17th-ranked (6-2) Lady Roadrunners up 7-3. It was a lead they never relinquished.

The Lady Roadrunners took a 52-13 lead into halftime. SFCC kept the pressure on in the second half, going on a 23-2 run to open the half. The Lady Roadrunners forced Neosho County into 37 turnovers for the game.

I thought our players played really good defense,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “That's kind of our signature. We got after it and picked up full court. We thought if we wore them down, good things would happen. Tonight we had another great defensive effort from our team.”

Four Lady Roadrunners finished the game in double figures. Sophomore Ebony Davis registered a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Dahlia Booker also contributed 13 points. Leak also pitched in with 13 points. Washington added 11. Freshman Mariah Duke dished out a team-leading four assists. She also contributed four steals. Sophomore Maci Wisdom led the team in steals with six. Booker added four steals. As a team, the Lady Roadrunners registered 28 steals for the game.

“The intensity was there from everyone who came into the game,” said Bucher. “I thought it was good team effort.”

SFCC will face North Central Missouri College at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at home.
