The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners ended their three-game road trip with a victory Nov. 16 in Harrison, Ark., defeating the North Arkansas College Lady Pioneers 69-55.
The Lady Roadrunners used their pressure defense to force North Arkansas into four turnovers, taking a 26-16 lead with under six minutes left to go in the first half.
“The girls came out aggressively and ready to play,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “We thought we could use our speed and our quickness and we did.”
The Lady Roadrunners extended their advantage to 38-24 at halftime. SFCC blew the game open early in the second half, taking a 53-32 lead. The Lady Roadrunners withstood a North Arkansas rally late in the game to secure the victory.
Sophomore Ebony Davis narrowly missed a triple-double with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Sophomore Tatianna Washington contributed a team-high 18 points. Sophomore Arriana Walker led the team with seven steals.
“It was very big to get this win,” said Bucher. “That's what we talked about in practice and in pre-game—how important it was to get back in the win column and learn from our trip to Florida.”
SFCC (4-2) will return home to compete in the SFCC Classic Nov. 19-20, taking on Coffeyville Community College and Neosho County Community College. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. both nights.
