Opponent: Johnson County Jamboree
Location: Overland Park, KS
The 2009-2010 State Fair Roadrunners got their first opportunity to scrimmage against another team on Oct. 13 when they took part in the Johnson County Jamboree. SFCC went 2-0 at the event, with victories over Kansas City Kansas Community College and the host, Johnson County Community College.
Overall, Head Coach Dale Ribble was pleased with his team's effort throughout the scrimmage against Kansas City Kansas.
“Some of our execution has to get better, on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor," Coach Ribble said.
Against Johnson County, State Fair didn't get off to a good start. However, they were able to fight back and take a double-digit lead in the first half.
"I thought defensively we were able to create some turnovers and get some easy baskets . . . Overall I think it's good for all of the teams that were involved in the scrimmage, to play against other teams and different styles," said Ribble.
After watching the tape of the scrimmages, Coach Ribble commented, “There are two areas that need improvement. Our help-side defense needs to improve along with our rebounding on both ends.”
The Roadrunners will participate in the University of Central Missouri Jamboree on Oct. 18. SFCC will take on John A. Logan College, Southwestern Illinois College and McCook Community College.
"We will learn more about our team and our players, and exactly where we are at this point," said Ribble.
