The 16th ranked SFCC Lady Roadrunners used a combination of solid defense and rebounding to secure a 78-49 win over St. Louis Community College-Meramec on Monday, Dec. 21. State Fair improved its record to 14-1 on the season
"We were really worried about their rebounding,” said Assistant Coach Kevin Bucher. “One of our other big keys was running the floor. I thought we could get some easy transition buckets . . . We are a much better team when we get out and run.”
State Fair’s scoring was led by sophomore Brittany Young with 16 points. Freshmen Arriana Walker contributed 14 points, and Lindsey Stanley added 10. Freshmen Jaleisha Barrett and Dahlia Booker tied for the team lead with 10 rebounds and four steals each. Freshman Tatianna Washington dished out a team-leading four assists in the game.
State Fair will return to game action on Jan. 8, with a home game against Penn Valley Community College.
"It's going to be a tough game coming back from break," said Bucher.
