L 63-52 |
The State Fair Roadrunners traveled to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on Feb. 5 to take on the 24th ranked Three Rivers Community College Raiders in Region 16 action. State Fair dropped a hard-fought 63-52 decision.
Both teams played hard defensively in the first half, but TRCC grabbed a 27-20 lead at halftime.
“Cliff (Fleming) makes a three at the end of first-half, and we went into halftime feeling pretty good,” said Head Coach Dale Ribble. Even though we didn't play well offensively, we were still in the game."
With renewed determination, the Roadrunners came out ready to do battle.
"We started off quick and ended up going ahead by six with a little under 15 minutes to play,” said Ribble. “We were playing well; Three Rivers took a timeout, and the score become real close. We went back and forth with the lead and ended up tied 48-48 with six or seven minutes to go in the game. In the end, Three Rivers made their plays, so I have to give them credit for coming out on top.”
State Fair (16-9, 2-3 in Region 16) was led in scoring by sophomore Justyn Watkins with 12 points. The Roadrunners will return home to face North Arkansas College on Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
