State Fair Roadrunners traveled to Harrison, Arkansas Nov. 23 to go against the North Arkansas College Pioneers but came up short losing a hard fought game 69-65.
"Give North Arkansas credit, I thought they played a good basketball game. It seemed like we got out of the gate a little slow, and that continued throughout the game. We've got to go back to work," said Head Coach Dale Ribble.
State Fair (6-2) struggled with their shooting all night. They went 5-21 from beyond the arc as a team. They also struggled from the free-throw line hitting only 8-14.
"You make one or two of those three-point-shots, or one or two of those free throws and the outcome of a game could have been changed," said Ribble.
The Roadrunners were led in scoring by freshman Dominique Newton with 19 points. Sophomore Timothy Kiewel added 12 points.
Next up for the Roadrunners is the Moberly Area Community College Classic Nov. 27-28. In the first round, the men will take on Southeastern Illinois College and then New York’s Technical Career Institute in the second round.
"These are both good basketball programs, both are well coached. It should be a good challenge for us this weekend," said Ribble.
