The SFCC Roadrunners used a combination of the best shooting performance so far this season and solid defense to defeat North Central Missouri College 107-53 on Nov. 17. The Roadrunners (4-1) jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back.
"We were very unselfish. We got some good shots. We were able to get some easy baskets off of our defense. I think the guys really felt good about themselves," said Head Coach Dale Ribble.
State Fair played 14 players, 12 of them got in the scoring column.
"I thought we had a lot of solid play from a lot of our guys," said Ribble.
Forward Justyn Watkins led the team in scoring with 17 points. Sophomores Clifton Fleming and George Williams registered 13 apiece. Freshman Travis Jordan added 11 points.
The Roadrunners return home for the SFCC Classic on Nov. 20 and 21. State Fair will open their portion of the classic Friday night against St. Louis Community College Forest Park Highlanders. On Saturday they will take on Westminster College’s JV. Tip-off both nights is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
"Forest Park has traditionally been a team that likes to get the game going up-tempo. When you play against teams like that, you have to make good sound fundamental basketball plays," said Ribble. "We are excited to be back at home."
