W 93-72 |
The State Fair Lady Roadrunners debuted their top 10 national ranking on Feb, 10 when they played the North Arkansas College Lady Pioneers on their home court. This is the second time the Lady Roadrunners have been ranked 10th in the country in the last three years under the leadership of Coach Pannier and Coach Bucher. State Fair picked up their third victory this season over the Lady Pioneers with a solid 93-72 score.
State Fair shook off a slow start to grab a 31-21 lead in the first half with less than six minutes to play. Controlling the tempo for the remainder of the game, the Lady Roadrunners sealed the victory with a strong offensive attack.
"It was a matter of turning them early and getting them worn down, “said Student Manager William Holtz. “They turned the ball over, and we took advantage."
State Fair (21-2) was led in scoring by sophomore Brittany Young with 24 points. Freshman Dahlia Booker registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Ciara Leak contributed a rare triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Tatianna Washington added 12 points, two rebounds and two assists.
"When we have two players score in double figures off the bench, we are going to be hard to defend," said Holtz.
State Fair will get back into Region 16 play on Feb. 13 when they take on Crowder College in Neosho. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
